As an act of passion, Martin Luther, a strong
believer in faith, nailed his book, the 95
Theses, to the doors of a church. He
did not believe in selling indulgences
to pay your way out of purgatory. He was angered
by these claims and created the 95 Theses to
show his beleifs.

The Council of Trent was a group of Catholics
getting together to try to stop Protestantism; they
tried to make internal reforms within the Church.
The Council lasted from 1545-1563. They outlawed
the idea of selling indulgences.
